Meet the Authors
Kristal is a 25 year old college graduate and native of Southern California who at many times feels resentful that adding “college graduate” next to her name will somehow make people more likely to respect her opinion. However her journey in discovering what it means personally to be a Black woman did begin to peak while in college. As a Sociology major, she has studied race and relationships first hand through ethnographic field research and of course through simply living life as a Black woman. She hopes that this blog will be a way to help Black and non-Black people begin to understand the rapidly changing and evolving Black experience.
In addition to being daily distracted by her blog, she is an artist and a performer, singing, dancing, acting and writing. When she is not doing one of these you can often find her staying up way too late talking with her bff and roommate Stacey.
Stacey is a 26 year-old Reno, NV import to Los Angeles and she loves it! Stacey is very passionate about race related issues, as race is a subject that many people feel sensitive about, but don’t know how to communicate in a safe and productive way. She believes that race is a part of life and believes that we should all acknowledge it as a reality, talk about it, learn, as well as teach!
Stacey is working toward a career as a television producer, where she would hope to inspire the world through positive, educational programming. She loves God, dancing, people and their stories, food, movies and television, and adores her family and friends.
Ladies…we need some pics. I know what the down-to-earth, beautiful, God-Fearing, talented, intelligent, passionate (okay let me stop before her head blows up) woman named Stacey looks like as she is my best friend’s little grown-up sis…..but I don’t know what Kristal looks like….I could probably go to myspace, but since I am married, I have resigned from there…(that’s a topic in itself)…..but seriously it’s nice to have a face with a name…at least that’s what the people say!!!
Thanks for checking out our blog Omeece and I love your feedback, we will look into getting our photos on here!
Haha… I didn’t know that you were the authors, until I kept reading and then I had some deja-vu experiences:
For example:
1. the touching of the hair
2. “racial reconciliation”
I thought to myself: I have definitely heard this before.
It looks great, keep writing! I’m loving it. Miss you!
